WHAT IS SKI CROSS?
Ski Cross is a relatively new sport. It involves four prime athletes racing head to head with one another, down a course at speeds exceeding 70mph. It is a Giant Slalom course, 50-60 seconds long with huge gap jumps and hips set all the way down the course. If F1 Motor racing was downhill skiing then Skicross would be World Rally Driving. It is fast, dangerous and provides many thrills and spills over the short distance raced.
Earlier this year the Olympic committee accepted Skicross into the 2010 winter Olympics in Vancouver. The Skicross races in Italy produced the highest spectator audiences during the winter more so than mens downhill..Quite some feat and maybe an inkling of what's in store in the future.
